It's not easy to write music that still sounds futuristic, innovative and modern decades later.  But DEVO did.  It is also unfortunate that many members of a population just starting to get its head around the concept of MTV interpreted DEVO as an elaborate joke.  They were not.

DEVO did and still rocks, and anyone who has recently seen them live will tell you that.  DEVO helped shape the direction that popular music would take, and many of the modern day artists who listen to and emulate DEVO will tell you that.
